To prepare the driftwood for use, it is recommended to boil it for 3-4 hours, which will cause the release of tannins and result in the water darkening in color. You can change the water if it becomes too dark and continue the boiling process. Following the boiling, the driftwood should be fully submerged in water for 5-7 days, until the water no longer changes color.

It is important to note that the original driftwood pieces are mostly sinkable, but they may require varying soaking times to achieve this. Some may need only a few hours, while others may need 1-2 days or even up to 2 weeks or more. In rare cases, the driftwood may not be sinkable due to density differences, which is a normal occurrence and not a quality issue.

If the driftwood still floats after the recommended pretreatment, you can continue soaking it or weigh it down with a rock or heavy glass cup until it no longer floats when the weight is removed.

Once the driftwood has been properly prepared, it can be placed in the fish tank.
